There are numerous stories in the bible of women, some caregivers, prophetess, judges, teachers, prominent patriarch, singers, and dancers who song songs of victory in crowds or alone. The King's Family from the Queen's House is an ecumenical platform used to minister to hurting women everywhere. We deliberately title this forum “Dinah and Tamar” to ignite conversation and Christian fellowship. Their stories are laced with dishonor, rage, fear, hopelessness, and vengeful acts committed by relatives to avenge them of their honor and shame. Does this sound familiar to you?
Although Dinah and Tamar are two very different women, dissimilar in some ways, yet similar in others, both lives were violated by men. One raped and hated by her brother, the other defiled by a foreigner who later falls in love with her. These two accounts are recorded in the bible because of its context. Sex before marriage was not permitted; an honorable marriage for any women engaged in sexual activities during this time was nearly impossible.
The lives of women throughout the bible provide clues of how they lived under a system that denied justice and their stories are not dissimilar to many of ours. We invite our readers to share this journey with us as we learn from their courage and fears through the Dinah and Tamar Forum. We will share stories of how women have shaped history through valor and vigor throughout ancient and current history. Their stories will be intertwined by the power of God’s word shedding hope and insight of how God values women despite negative stigmas. Join us each month as we share different stories, personal testimonies, and scriptures that have been detrimental to those confronting emotional struggles and spiritual survival. These stories might not be easy to read and we strongly believe a forum of this magnitude will help women and young girls from everywhere find hope and strength.
“I Believe”was written and produced by the daughters of Dr. Queen Esther Williams-McCormick and the late Bishop Samuel Lee McCormick, Emeritus. A ministering song that encourages hope and inspires belief in the awesomeness of God. These lyrics were written for such a time, when the world escalates their poisonous campaign, that "Our Loving God" does not exist . But we choose to believe that through Him we are a people of promise, a people of purpose, called by His name.
